In just four and a half months of construction, a monotonous office floor in a 1990s building in Düsseldorf was transformed into a contemporary work environment for an international dairy cooperative. &MICA harmonised the interior design specifications prescribed by Fokkema & Partners Architecten with the built circumstances, drew up the construction documents and coordinated all construction activities on site. Working in close coordination with the future users, versatile and attractive office spaces have been created that are consistent with the company’s image.
The sprawling open-plan floor was divided into zones by modular glass partitions with varied sound insulation levels, so that quiet places of retreat alternate with lively communication areas. This enables undisturbed work while maintaining good visual contact. Different materials, textures and surfaces distinguish the discreet zones and optimise the acoustics. Bamboo cladding and upholstered furniture create a comfortable atmosphere that offers the best conditions for networking and new working models. A fully equipped open kitchen invites staff to take collective breaks and encourages informal team building.
